The winery has a distinctly family profile and a winemaking tradition since the beginning of the century. Both the winery and the vineyards are located in the department of Canelones, in the area of Las Piedras, the epicenter of viticulture in Uruguay. Today it is the fourth generation responsible for the direction of the same, since 1993 is managed by Leonardo Montes Toscanini, son of Margot, oenologist by profession and by vocation, who with great passion and enthusiasm is conducting processes of technological re-conversion, productive and commercial of the winery.

CRIADO EN ROBLE GRAN RESERVA TANNAT
It’s a young Tannat, It spends four months in French oak. This wine’s soft tannins make it great on its own, and with empanadas, Provolone, and steaks with chimichurri sauce.
Grapes are harvested manually and the alcoholic fermentation is done at controlled temperature. 10% of the wine is aged in oak barrels to give it a greater complexity.
Leo Montes works very well the interaction between wood and fruit, and of course this is not the exception. Its twelve-month stay in the barrel gives it a fantastic structure in the mouth and aromas coming from the double fermentation in the bottle. To this, aromas of fruits such as peach and pineapple, even vibrant, are added. One of many recommended Chardonnay with barrels from Uruguay.
Aged in oak (Criado en Roble). It smells charred and toasty, with resiny aromas thrown in. A full, seemingly healthy palate can handle the high level of wood this has, but, in the end, oak is mostly what this tastes like. A dry spicy tannic finish doesn't break the chain.
High-end blend, composed of Syrah and Merlot on the structure of Tannat, parked in French oak for 15 months. Very dark red color, with spectacular aromas of red fruits, chocolate and spices; The palate is elegant and intense, with ripe tannins and a persistent finish.
Aged for 18 months in oak barrels It presents an intense and full purple color, concentrated nose with ripe red fruits and prunes. Great character, soft tannins in an excellent ending that speaks of its elegance and personality
